Nathaniel Russel's (lives and works in Indianapolis, Indiana @nathanielrussell on Instagram) work always feels friendly. This bird is so flat, just smooshed right onto the paper but I’d swear she wants to hug you.

Russel makes a lot of prints, often with Oakland’s Nat Swope. Prints work for Russel’s work — both visually and philosophically. Visually, there’s an appreciation for things that feel handmade and imperfect. Philosophically, there’s an appreciation for making art more accessible.
